Well I mainly dealt with one person but I can't say for sure it was that particular agent who screwed it up for us, as on the night of the auction several others were also on hand to help with the process of signing of the contracts, plus I am not sure if this person is employed to do the legwork of meet and greet of prospects also did all the paper and vendor interaction.
Although the net result was that due to either their or the vendors actions/inactions/incomplete pre-auction paperwork (or some combination thereof) our time consuming purchase was screwed.
Also though the net results for us were pretty bad and have caused a lot of anger and inconvenience, a simple mistake (or sequence of mistakes) attributed to human error is the most likely explanation rather than the more predatory behaviour described in the Jenman article, as it is in the agents best interest to have a happy and clean sale so they get their comission and can move on to the next sale.

After the hammer fell If I messed up the paperwork similarly I bet it would be a different story though!
